Post-COVID-19 digital transformation has driven many organizations to adopt hybrid work systems as a strategy to maintain both productivity and employee work-life balance. This article analyzes the implementation of a hybrid work system and its impact on employee productivity at a national-scale interior design firm headquartered in South Jakarta; it highlights findings from a 2021 internal survey showing that 75.5% of the 1,313 employees preferred a hybrid work model over working exclusively from the office or from home. The study employs a phenomenological qualitative approach to explore employees' subjective experiences, utilizing three informants selected purposively based on their direct involvement in the hybrid work system's implementation. The results indicate that flexibility regarding work time and location enhances efficiency and the quality of work outcomes—particularly for tasks requiring high levels of concentration—though its effectiveness relies heavily on self-discipline, adequate technological support, and clear output-based supervision mechanisms.References
