Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior, known in Indonesia as PHBS, refers to learned health behaviors practiced consciously to maintain individual and environmental health. (Proverawati & Rahmawati, 2012) Primary school children are vulnerable to infectious diseases due to frequent close contact and inconsistent hygiene practic, making schools a strategic venue for personal hygiene promotion. (Ismail et al., 2024) Global evidence synthesis indicates that school based hygiene interventions may improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices and may reduce infection related absenteeism in some settings. (Ismail et al., 2024) A Cochrane review also suggests that handwashing promotion interventions reduce diarrhoeal morbidity by about thirty percent, supporting handwashing with soap as a key target for early habit building. (Ejemot et al., 2008) This community service report describes the implementation of personal hygiene education and practice at SD 3 Sukamekarsari, focusing on handwashing with soap, oral hygiene, nail hygiene, and personal cleanliness with appropriate personal items. (Proverawati & Rahmawati, 2012) The approach combines interactive education, demonstration and guided practice, routine reinforcement at classroom level, and short term evaluation using observation and pretest posttest knowledge assessment. (Priliana & Herlina, 2025) The expected outcomes include improved personal hygiene knowledge and skills and the establishment of stable daily cues and repetition that support habit formation with teacher and parent involvement. (Lally et al., 2010)
