PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (RME) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN SELF CONCEPT SISWA SMP

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki, mengetahui, dan mendeskripsikan pencapaian akhir dan peningkatan self concept siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan realistic mathematics education dan konvesional. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Banjarsari tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mixed methods dengan desain penelitian concurrent embedded design. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari skala self concept, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data memuat dua jenis yakni data kuantitatif yang terdiri dari statistik deskriptif dan inferensial adapun data kualitatif memuat temuan informasi melalui observasi dan wawancara yang dianalisis menggunakan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa pencapaian akhir dan peningkatan self concept siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan realistic mathematics education lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional. Rata-rata skala self concept siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan pendekatan realistic mathematics education adalah 49,41 dengan rata-rata gain sebesar 0,20, sedangkan rata-rata skala self concept siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional adalah 46,47 dengan rata-rata gain 0,10. Kata kunci: realistic mathematics education; self concept
