Abstract

This study aims to explore the diversity of vascular and non-vascular epiphytic plant species in Carita Grand Forest Park Banten, which represents a lowland ecosystem. The research adopts an exploratory approach, with a focus on the comprehensive collection of data regarding epiphytic plant diversity. The results identify eight epiphytic species classified into six plant families. Vascular epiphytes exhibit relatively higher diversity, encompassing six species from the groups of taros, orchids, and ferns. A key factor contributing to the dominance of vascular epiphytes is their efficiency in water and nutrient transport through their vascular systems. Despite this, the overall diversity of epiphytic plant species in the area is relatively low, likely influenced by factors such as ecosystem type and local environmental conditions rather than habitat degradation, given that the protection and management of the Tahura Banten area are still maintained effectively.
