Abstract

Tahura Banten ecosystem is known for its high diversity of flora and fauna, including native, introduced, and exotic species. Among the various plant species found there, Ficus punctata and Khaya anthoteca stand out due to their uniqueness, making them compelling subjects for research. This study utilized an in-depth observation method to analyze the ecological roles of these two species. The results of this study revealed that Ficus punctata and Khaya anthotheca have variations in terms of their ecological roles in the Tahura Banten ecosystem. Ficus punctata, as a native species, serves as a primary food source for local fauna such as Macaca fascicularis, supporting the dynamics of species interactions within the forest. In contrast, Khaya anthotheca, as an exotic species, provides important shading for various bird species and plays a crucial role in the formation of the forest canopy. Although these species have distinct ecological roles, their contributions are collectively significant in enhancing the balance and functionality of the Tahura Banten ecosystem.
